Instructions for cleaning

Warnings and Precautions:
Avoid undue bending and twisting of the probe tubing. Undue pressure can damage the internal glass fiber bundle.
Check the probe tubing for damages. Broken glass fibres jutting out of the probe tubing can be a cause of injury. If the probe is damaged, fluids can leak into the probe tubing. Damaged probes must not be used!
Maximal temperature exposure: For detailed information contact the manufacturer.

Restrictions to the reprocessing:
Frequent cleaning and disinfection has minor effects on the product. Mostly the product´s life span will be limited by damages due to the use.

INSTRUCTIONS
Working place:
Remove gross dirt and stains on the surface with a paper towel.

Storage and Transport:
When dirty the probe must not be placed into the probe case. The probe case must be protected against contamination.
It is recommended to reprocess the probes as soon as possible after use.

Preparation for Cleaning:
Do not try to take the probe to pieces.

CLEANING
Manual:
Clean the probe with a wet and soft tissue (10x10 gauze compress), in order to remove gross dirt. See that the surface of the optical parts (head and plug of the probe) are not damaged. Do not apply pressure while cleaning the optical parts.

Automatic:
not applicable

Disinfection:
Clean the probe prior to disinfecting. Use for disinfecting alcohol-free substances, that are listed in the disinfecting list of the DGHM (German Society for hygiene and microbiology). Use preferably disinfectants with glutaraldehydes, like e.g. Incidin perfekt (Henkel), Sekusept forte (Henkel), Aseptisol (Bode Chemie) or Korsolex basic (Bode Chemie). Follow the instructions of the manufacturer for use of the disinfectant. After disinfecting rinse the probe with completely desalted water and dry the probe immediately.

Maintenance, Check and Test:
Please check the probe regularly for damage. The internal light guides are very sensitive for tractive forces and shear stress as well as bend radii smaller that 5 cm. The probe can be checked easily by holding the probe plug with the optical contacts into an external light source. The windows for light exit at the probe head turn up brightly. If that is not the case, probably a glass fibre is broken. Stop measurement with broken glass fibres at once! Glass fibres that break through the probe tubing are a health hazard! Measurements with damaged probes lead to incorrect results! Contact your manufacturer, if you have damaged probes. Do not try to take the probe to pieces - there are no components that could be replaced or repaired by the user.

Packaging:
Make sure that the packaging of the probe is appropriate for protection against damage and contamination.

Sterilisation: For detailed information contact the manufacturer.
Storage:
Store the probes in the delivered boxes in a dry, well ventilated place at room temperature. High air humidity, extreme temperatures and direct sun light should be avoided. Avoid storage of the probe in a transit area, where it could be damaged.
